It’s Earth Month! That means recycling, exchanging those light bulbs, and participating in park cleanups. That also means finding ways that you can live a greener lifestyle and support local organizations that will make change beyond Earth Month. We’ve compiled a list of 6 basic tips for making our community greener while shouting out some of our favorite groups doing great work for our environment.
Whether you’re a donor or a shopper, you may be curious about what the lifecycle of a donated item looks like. In this video, we follow a donation from the time it leaves a donor’s hand until it’s either sold or processed for recycling. That’s right — donating is recycling whether or not your donation is sold! We achieved 90% of our Zero Waste Goal by diverting 80 million pounds from landfills last year. Yesterday, the Austin Police Department (APD) was called to the Goodwill Central Texas Brodie Store to investigate a possible explosion in relation to a recent spate of bombings in the Central Texas area. Upon further investigation, it was determined by APD that the event at Brodie was not related to the recent bombings around Austin, but instead the detonation of an expired military artillery simulator that was donated to the store.
