Goodwill Central Texas is pleased to announce it has received a $1,004,495 grant from the U.S. Department of Labor, awarded through Goodwill Industries International. These funds are used to support the LifeLaunch program, which assists young adults, ages 18 to 24, who are in the Austin area and have been touched by the criminal justice system.
We had an amazing 2016, opening and relocating six new stores and providing a greater diversity of services than ever to our neighbors in the Central Texas area. We plan on an equally amazing 2017, with a new store opening in Leander, expansion of our education initiatives, and pursuing more legislative reform to continue empowering the individuals we serve.
AUSTIN, TX — Goodwill Central Texas (GCT) was one of five Goodwill® organizations awarded a grant for more than $4M from the U.S. Department of Labor to improve employment and reduce recidivism among justice-involved young adults. The Goodwill organization’s communities will benefit from a $4.5 million grant to establish the Goodwill LifeLaunch young adult reentry program to provide access to employment, training opportunities and support services for 575 young adults, between the ages of 18 to 24.
