AUSTIN, TX Monday, June 12, 2017, at 10:30am

Furthering Central Texas’ capacity as one of the nation’s high-tech hubs, The Goodwill Career & Technical Academy (GCTA) announces the opening of a BICSI certified training lab. The GCTA will offer certified training courses to students in basic information technology cable installation, copper installation, optical fiber installation, and technician training. The Austin facility will become one of 32 active locations nationwide to offer these certifications.

Once certified, students will have a direct pathway to businesses hiring low-voltage installers, creating a sustainable model for success. Over seven businesses in the community have formed partnerships with the GCTA to provide this pipeline between local businesses and newly certified low-voltage installers, with additional business partnerships in the works.

BICSI training classes begin on Monday, June 19th, with an official ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at The Goodwill Community Center located at 1015 Norwood Park Blvd., Austin Texas, 78753. Doors will open at 3:30 PM and the ribbon cutting ceremony will begin at 4:00 PM.
