Goodwill Excited to Open New Store in Iconic Austin Space
Goodwill's New Store at 10th and Lamar Pays Homage to Austin's Rich History and Bright Future
Austin, TX - Goodwill Central Texas invites you to celebrate the opening of its newest store on Thursday, April 3rd. Located at 914 North Lamar Blvd Austin, at the intersection of 10th and Lamar, this space is the site of the very first Whole Foods, and the former location of Cheapo Records. Goodwill is proud to honor this historical landmark by preserving a number of the murals, both on the interior and exterior walls. It will create a shopping experience that honors the past and embraces the future of our rapidly growing city.
“It’s always energizing to open a location in the heart of Austin. This is part of the city in which old meets new, and our store is a perfect reflection of this. Both established residents and newcomers alike will be able to enjoy the unique items at terrific prices that our community has come to expect from Goodwill,” says Jerry Davis, President and CEO of Goodwill Central Texas. Area residents are invited to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Goodwill Board of Directors, members of the Austin Chamber of Commerce, and staff to commemorate the new location.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony and Grand Opening Celebration is scheduled for 8:45 a.m. Visitors are encouraged to arrive at 8:30 to kick-off the festivities and enjoy complimentary refreshments. After the ribbon-cutting, shoppers will enjoy special promotions and giveaways until noon. Shopping discounts and a “treasure trove” of free items hidden around the store will be available all weekend long. Be sure to come out early because the first 200 shoppers through the doors will receive a special gift!
This retail space will not just provide central Austin residents with quality items at a great value, it will also serve as a donation site for gently used items, including computers, clothing, and household items. The revenue generated from the sale of donated items helps fund the Goodwill mission of generating lifelong connections to work.
