Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for our PMP certification program, candidates must:

  • Have three years of experience in progressive project management
  • Be authorized to work in the US.

Note: All students must also attend a mandatory orientation before the first day of class.

Who Should Get a PMP Certification?

Is PMP certification right for you? If you are talented at organizing projects, managing others, delegating tasks, and nailing deadlines, a career in project management might be the perfect choice. And if you’re already working in project management, PMP certification could provide the building blocks to advancing your career (and your salary).

PMP certification is a respected credential that requires passing a rigorous exam. Project managers typically pursue this certification to sharpen their skills, boost their resume, and earn more money. In fact, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported a median annual salary of $95,370 for project management professionals in 2022

However, the PMI has strict requirements for who can sit for the PMP exam. For example, individuals with bachelor’s degrees must have at least 36 months of experience leading projects. Prospects with a high school diploma or associate’s degree need at least 60 months of experience.

In addition to work experience, candidates must complete 35 hours of project management training, also called “contact hours.” This is where the GCTA Project Management Professional (PMP) certification program comes in.
